Changes in OrgPad and a new domain

How does login work via Google, Microsoft and FB?

To explain why it's safe, let's describe how the whole login process works. At OrgPad, we need to know that you own your email address. For example, you can have your password reset sent to it, and we don't want anyone to impersonate you.

If you sign up by email, you will receive an activation email to confirm that you have access to the email.

If you sign up through Google, FB or Microsoft, we ask those companies and they confirm that the email is yours. If you already have an account, we will log you in. If you don't have one, we will create a new one and automatically fill in your first name, last name, and profile photo. We don't use your Google, FB, or Microsoft account for anything else.

Unverified login via Microsoft

In the case of Microsoft, our new application is not yet verified, so it shows “unverified”, which confuses customers. Please be assured that we are actively working to resolve the situation, but you have nothing to worry about. Login works and everything is secure.

Do I need to set something up as a user?

The only exceptions you need to resolve are links and mobile applications.

If you used OrgPad as a mobile application, you need to uninstall it and reinstall it from orgpad.info/list. The procedure is shown in the video.

Do I need to reconnect my Microsoft or Google account?

No, your existing accounts work the same as before.

Under the new domain orgpad.info, we have also updated logins via Google, FB and Microsoft. In the case of Microsoft, our new application is not yet verified, so it shows “unverified”, which confuses customers. We are trying to fix the situation, but you have nothing to worry about. Logins work and everything is safe.

What should administrators do?

If they run Google Workspace, they will need to set up access to third-party applications in the administrator console so that teachers and pupils can log in to OrgPad with Google accounts.

Why are some links not working?

Previously shared links no longer work to ensure the security of your data. We had to reset the links and the access tokens that are part of them. The access token works as a key. This means that anyone who has it can use it to access the document to which it belongs. The goal was to prevent the owner Vít Kalisz from manipulating documents on the new server.

We have already updated the links within OrgPad. If you shared a link with someone, you need to share it again.

If you have shared a large number of links somewhere, send us a list of them to support@orgpad.info and we will restore the links for you. Since the domain orgpad.com is not controlled by OrgPad s.r.o. right now, we cannot guarantee its functionality in the future.

Will I lose my data?

No, you can find all your OrgPages after logging in with your original login information on the orgpad.info domain. You can sign in by email and password, or by using login via Microsoft, Google or Facebook.

Is something changing for schools?

The contact person has changed. The new contact person is Pavel Klavík, Ph.D.:

Everything else applies according to the contracts.

Was there a data leak during the domain change?

No, all the data is still stored and operated on the same server. You can only think of a domain as a pointer that tells your browser which server in Germany to connect to in order to communicate with OrgPad.

Will OrgPad now only be available on the new domain? Why are both the domains orgpad.info and orgpad.com running now?

At the moment, there is one server on which all data is stored, which runs on both domains orgpad.info and orgpad.com. But OrgPad s.r.o. has no control over the orgpad.com domain. For this reason, its content may change at any time. So please use orgpad.info for the future.

How do you back up the data?

  1. Directly on the main server, we make a backup of the PostgreSQL database every 15 minutes using BorgBackup. We keep the backups for about a month, gradually increasing the intervals. These backups are encrypted with a long random password.
  2. Primary backups are stored on another server in the data center in Nuremberg datacenter (Germany) at Hetzner Online GmbH. This is done every four hours using rsnapshot. The entire encrypted archive of PostgreSQL database backups is backed up from the main server (from step 1), and copies of all uploaded attachments and images in MinIO (without encryption) are also made. We keep these backups for the last five days, gradually increasing the time intervals.
  3. Every four hours, we then make another backup of all the backups from step 2 using BorgBackup, encrypted with another long random password. These backups are uploaded to two disaster recovery servers at the German company Contabo in their data center in Düsseldorf (Germany). We keep the backups here for about 1 month, gradually increasing the time intervals. All data is already encrypted when it arrives on these servers.
  4.  We create another copy from Contabo to another server by the Lithuanian provider Time4VPS where all data and metadata are already encrypted.

Does changing the domain affect security?

No, OrgPad is running under the same conditions as in the last few years. We have just set up new servers at Hetzner and Contabo.

Do the licensing conditions change?

No, OrgPad is still operated by OrgPad s.r.o. under the same conditions. It just changes the domain to orgpad.info.

What has changed?

OrgPad has moved from the orgpad.com domain to the new orgpad.info domain. Related to this is the change of email addresses:

Where is the data stored?

OrgPad is operated together with the data on the main server in the data center in Falkenstein (Germany) by the German company Hetzner Online GmbH, which is DIN ISO/IEC 27001 certified.

The OrgPad data consists of

  1. Database PostgreSQL, where information about accounts, documents, individual cells, etc. is stored.
  2. Storage MinIO, where all uploaded files and images are stored.

The backups are stored on other servers in the German data centers of Hetzner and Contabo. For more information, see https://orgpad.info/security.

Will I keep my subscription?

Yes, changing the domain to orgpad.info does not change your subscription. All subscriptions and contracts will continue according to the original agreement.

Are you GDPR compliant?

OrgPad is operated by the Czech company OrgPad s.r.o. All data is stored on servers in Germany and does not leave the EU. OrgPad does not share your data with third parties. Privacy and security is one of the key pillars of OrgPad. For more information, see https://orgpad.info/privacy-policy.

Could a similar situation arise in the future?

The married couple Pavel Klavík and Kamila Klavíková continue to work on OrgPad. All data, servers and domain orgpad.info are secure and will always remain under our control.

Who has access to the data?

We do not share your data with anyone; it is stored securely and backups are encrypted. Access is only given to those with sufficient permission or through a secret access token.

We respect your privacy and only interact with your data when we are solving a specific problem for you. Occasionally, we also make automatic updates as part of tool upgrades. For example, we've recently updated embeds and links within OrgPad to ensure they remain functional after access token changes. Only the married couple Pavel Klavík and Kamila Klavíková, the owners of OrgPad s.r.o., have access to the data.

What are OrgPad's official social media profiles? I'm a little confused about what to follow.

Along with the domain orgpad.com we also lost access to the existing social media profiles. That's why we have created new profiles where we will publish information and all news:

You can also send us a message directly in the app, or via the new email addresses support@orgpad.info, klavik@orgpad.info and klavikova@orgpad.info.

What news are you planning?

Automatic data backups to GitHub

GitHub is a service hosted by Microsoft and used by programmers around the world to store their source code. The repository contains not only the latest version of the code, but also its entire history, which can be accessed at any time.

In OrgPad, you will be able to set up your data to be automatically backed up to the repository on GitHub. We will upload structured data describing all your documents in EDN format, along with any attachments and images. Whenever you change something in OrgPad, the changes will be saved to GitHub, so your data is always up to date and secure.

✅ All copies of a template in one

If you have a template and copies of it in your document list (for example, pupils' work), you'll now see only the original template listed.

The bottom right corner shows how many copies it has, and clicking on that number will show you a list of all copies.

Do you have another idea?

We want OrgPad to be a useful tool that makes your job as easy as possible. We will be very happy if you tell us what we should improve in OrgPad and what features you would like to see.

✅ New Invoices

We have created new invoices for our customers. This has several advantages:

API for OrgPad

The API is the interface through which programs send messages to each other. We want to create an API for OrgPad that will allow other programs to communicate with OrgPad and read, create and change documents.

One of the amazing things that will make this possible is connecting OrgPad to artificial intelligence. Imagine, for example, an artificial intelligence automatically summarizing your class notes or creating worksheets for you. We believe that it will help you discover many great ways to use OrgPad.

Of course, a third-party program will need a permission to access documents in OrgPad. You'll do this by making a special secret key in your OrgPad account settings.
