- I have mobile data turned on all the time, therefore I mostly use instant messaging via Messenger or Whatsapp. It's the easiest and fastest way of getting in touch with my family and friends. You can even make a call through these apps.
- I also spend a lot of time on social networks and it's possible to send messages through them as well. I mostly use them when I am chatting with my friends because my family members rarely have social medias.
- I make calls by phone as well but not that frequently. Especially when I don't have much time and need something as soon as possible.
- The last way of communication I often use is email. When I want to send something formal, to school for exapmle, it's the most appropriate way of communication.
- It is really similar to social medias and their way of sending messages. I would say that instant messages are even more common for older people than social networks. Almost everyone has whatsapp or such app.
- advantages: Extremly quick. You don't have to pay for it, all you need is internet connection.
- disadvantages: Someone can hack your account and send inappropriate messages through it.
1. phone call
2. letter
3. instant messaging/text messages
4. email
5. social networks
- It is mostly used with older people as well but I think that also kids like to send postcards, when, for example, they are at camp or on vacation.
- advantages: It is really personal and makes the other person happy to see that you have a good time on vacation for example.
- disadvantages: It takes long to send it. Sometimes arrives late when the sender is already back from the vacation.
- I would say email is more popular with older people because they don't really use social medias as much as younger people do.
- advantages: almost everyone has an email, all you need is an internet connection, it is easy to send
- disadvantages: it is fast, but not as fast as sms or social medias, you may receive some junk email
- Deffinitely more popular with older people. It's a classic way of communication and older people mostly don't know how to handle technologies, so they prefer letters.
- advantages: It is still the most reliable way of communication and also the most formal one.
- disadvantages: It takes long to send it and people don't use it on daily basis.
- This is mostly used with younger people but nowadays almost everyone has a phone, so it's common with older people as well.
- advantages: It takes few seconds or minutes to send it.
- disadvantages: It costs money.
- The same as text messages. It is common for every age group to have it.
- advantages: The fastest way. You can express yourself perfectly and in detail.
- disadvanatges: Everyone can hear you if you are in society, so it lacks privacy sometimes. It also costs money to make a call.
- Anyone can create a blog and post their opininons there, so it is possible to find older people micro-blogging, but to be honest, I've never seen an older person to do this. Maybe I am searching for topics that older people don't write about.
- advantages: You can write long paragraphs about your life and inspire or help other people. It is a way of amusement
- disadvantages: Deffinitely not easy to write, it usually takes a lot of time and requests good ideas. Not suitable for quick and concise messages.
- It was always connected with younger generation. Almost every young person has at least facebook or more popular instagram. But times are changing and it is not rare to see older people using these sites.
- advantages:
