Pathos: Sympathy for the antagonist

Brian felt horrible for making his life harder for no good reason. He assumed that the kid just wanted a new haircut, but Brian still had no right to treat him that way.

The kid later died from cancer, and the school informed his classmates that he was diagnosed with cancer some time ago.

The kid was already going through a lot, and did not need any more struggles in life.

Pathos: Feel bad for the kid

Situational Irony

The kid got the haircut because he was diagnosed with cancer, Brian did not know this.

Cause and effect

Yesterday at school, Brian picked on a kid for getting a new haircut.

Impact: We know that Brian is a bully
