Reformation

People were not happy with the Church. This instution was rich and not very moral. The Church wanted only money. 

People wanted to reform the Church, they wanted to go back to the teaching of Jesus.

New learning

Western civilization re-discovered the long-forgotten ancient writings thanks to the Arabs.

The Arabs liked ancient texts and kept and studied them. Then the Arabs came to Spain and brought the texts with them. Also the soldiers who took part in crusades brought some texts to Europe.

Sculpture

Sculptures were used to decorate buildings, gardens, squares etc.
