Why Not Ubuntu ?

• All packages are outdated. For 20.04 - several years old.
• Upgrade is almost never working, because you have to install newer versions of packages like Docker but then it is breaking the upgrade procedure!

Why Arch?

• No additional dust. You have choice what/how to install. Only very basic parts of system are supplied in base.
• Fast. You can notice that its faster then Ubuntu. No idea why is this, but its fact which you can feel and may be measure.
• All packages are recent.
• In general its easier to install additional packages, AUR repository provides almost comple choice of open source and commercial software.
• No mandatory fixed releases. You can upgrade your system instantly.

Why Arch as of 2025-08 (year after)

• More packages available via AUR, fast updates
• All packages are fresh enough
• Stable. Can work for months or may be years without reboots. Hybernate to disk (secure volume) works well!
