the first type of cubism
Most analytical Cubists painted and drew in monochrome (only one colour – grey, blue and ochre) The person who was looking at the
colour is not important, the shapes and the forms are more important. Colour can disturb the person.
Analytic cubists focused on forms like the cylinder , sphere and the cone .
They wanted to represent the natural world.
The work of Picasso and Braque had very similar stylistic features in this period.
This was changed in 1912 when Picasso first started painting with colours and he started to
use collages. Collage is when you glue together different cut-up pieces of paper to make an
artwork.
is often called Cubo-cubism
Prague was perhaps the most important center for Cubism outside Paris before the start of WWI

It was developed by Picasso,
Braque, Juan Gris and others between 1912 and 1919.
Synthetic cubism uses different textures , surfaces , collage elements, papier collé and the topics are also very varied.
Colour was used.
Picasso invented collage because he was tired of the way he was making his art, and wanted to try out something new. Pablo Picasso created over 20,000 pictures. The years 1912 to 1919 could be called Picasso's Synthetic Cubism Period.
